Are Baby Food Pouches Non-Perishable?

Yes, these pouches are non-perishable. It takes years, perhaps decades, before the flexible food packaging used in baby food pouches to deteriorate or become unfit to do its job. The reasons for this longevity are straightforward.

First, stand up pouch bags are made from plastic. Plastic does not spoil easily, even if it is under a constant bombardment of moisture, vapors, bad odors, and other environmental factors.

Second, the structure of stand up pouches easily prevents disintegration. The pouches stay intact for a long period, protecting the baby food in them.

However, the baby food packaged in these pouches cannot be imperishable. The job of the pouch is to make sure that the baby food lasts for as long as it can. If the product is dry, it will have a long shelf life. It may stay intact over six months or even a year.

But if the product is a juice, jelly, or some other organic food, it will have a shorter shelf life. Juices with preservatives do not normally have a shelf life of more than six months.

To sum this up, the baby food pouches are non-perishable but the food packaged in them may rot in a couple of months. As a manufacturer, you need to print the “best before” date on the pouches so that your customers can get to know if the product is fit for consumption.
