Are Bottles Costlier than Pouches?

Yes, it costs more to make plastic bottles than stand up pouches. Plastic is the main ingredient used in the manufacture of bottles and stand up pouch bags. As it takes more plastic to produce a bottle than a bag of equal capacity, manufacturers have to spend more on raw materials. This extra expenditure keeps the price of plastic bottles higher than stand up bags.

Unlike wood, plastic is not natural. It is made from petroleum. As we all know, petroleum is an expensive substance. We depend on a bunch of countries for our petroleum supply. The more plastic we use in a packaging medium, the costlier it is going to be. There are other packaging mediums that are costlier than plastic. For example, glass jars are costlier than plastic ones. Cardboard boxes aren’t cheap either. In essence, the fewer resources we use, the better. Plastic standup pouches are one of the most viable options that we have today. They use the minimum plastic as compared to other mediums, and are still strong and durable.

America may call itself a post-industrial society, but it is certainly not a post-packaging society. Packaging plays a crucial role in the consumer society of the country. In a market full of all kinds of packaging available, it is a challenge to keep costs low for a packaging which is secure and attractive.

Bottles and stand up pouches are popular and safe methods to package food and non-food products. However, when it comes to costs, stand up pouches have an unbeatable advantage. A typical stand up pouch costs between 15 and 20 cents. A plastic bottle does not sell for less than 35 cents. Beside manufacturing costs, a stand up spout pouch saves money in several other ways as well.

The storage costs for pouch bags are minimal. One thousand plastic pouches can fit snugly inside a large crate, or a medium sized box. In comparison, a thousand bottles require nothing less than a small room. With stand up pouches, businesses can save on inventory costs.

With many businesses operating from several places, transport of human resources and materials is common. A small saving on packaging transport costs can mean a lot in today's tough business environment. More standup bags can be transported in a single truck than plastic bottles.

Finally, the return on investment for stand up pouches is higher as they offer more variety in design, shape, and size. This variety can boost sales and help you build a brand.
