Eco-friendliness and low environment impact are the terms that have recently come up in the domain of product packaging, and now that they have made their entry, they are here to stay. A few years back, food packaging suppliers used to ignore the effect of their product on the environment. With growing awareness regarding degrading ecological balance, eco-friendliness of a product has become one of the most significant factors governing sales. Keeping this in mind, modern product pouches, especially stand up bags, are designed in such a manner that they are not only strong and convenient but completely recyclable and environment friendly.

The ill-effects of unchecked pollution can be seen everywhere. Global warming is on the rise and the main reason for this scary trend is the rise in pollution. There is an uncontrolled increase in the carbon footprint of man. Air pollution, water pollution, mountains, heaps of garbage outside cities, lack of dumping grounds, and overflowing landfills are a common occurrence; and product packaging is a significant contributor to all this. The packaging solution that the manufacturers resort to has both medium term and long term impacts on the environment. However, the fact that stand up bags cause the minimum harm to the environment comes as a relief.

There have been many changes and now packaging manufacturers pay more attention towards the eco friendliness of their products. This is why many companies are now adopting standup pouches to package their goods. Here are some reasons that make stand up pouches efficient as a green packaging option:

  1. The manufacturing process for making stand up pouches is energy efficient. To be exact, the barrier packaging process uses 12 percent less material as compared to other packaging alternative available in the market. Less material translates into less fuel consumption and less waste generation which means that you can have better packaging at a lesser environmental cost.
  2. As opposed to other packaging solutions that require supplementary packets like outer box, inner foil, carton, etc., stand up pouches are independent and do not require such additional materials. Less material means less weight to transport and less volume to store making significant cuts in energy consumption.
  3. Durable and tough barrier bags keep the content locked and contamination free which increases the shelf life of the product. This is a big energy saver, especially in case of food and beverage packaging, pill packaging, and health product packaging.

Given all these advantages, stand up pouches have the minimum impact on the environmental balance and are a green packaging solution.
