Stand up pouches have come a long way since they were first used by a juice maker Capri Sun in the 60s. They were a novelty then. Today, stand up pouch bags are a popular packaging medium. As more and more manufacturers are opting for these pouch bags to package their products, interactions between stand up pouch manufacturers and product makers are increasing. Product manufacturers can have a better experience if they know these five things while discussing artwork with a stand up pouch manufacturer:
(1) Printing: There are two kinds of printing – (a) rotogravure printing, and (b) rotary press printing. Rotogravure printing is newer and better.
(2) Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop: If you have already prepared a design, it is a good idea to send it to us in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop file format. There are alternatives like GIMP, but Adobe is the industry standard.
(3) Image quality: The resolution of images used in artwork should be more than 350dpi. Images with a lower resolution may get distorted during printing.
(4) True color standards: To make sure the colors in the artwork on pouches match your colors, it is necessary to send PMS numbers or color samples to your manufacturer.
(5) Print proof: Ask for a print proof that includes all the details you have provided – including PMS numbers – before giving a final go ahead.
Keep these simple points in mind and you’ll have the best kind of artwork on your pouches.
