Food and beverage packaging comes in many styles. There are tin cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles, paper bags, cardboard boxes, plastic bags, and other kinds of materials commonly used to package food and beverages. Currently, the inexpensive and environment friendly stand up bags are increasingly being used in food and liquid packaging. Stand up pouches have been used for many years in Asia and Europe, but their use is relatively new in the United States. However, they are rapidly increasing in popularity due to their ease of use and high quality.

Stand up bags are greener than many other packaging options for a number of reasons. One reason is that the manufacturing process of these bags uses fewer resources such as energy and materials. Producing a plastic stand up bag is a ‘greener’ way than producing a bulky glass bottle or a tin can. Another reason is that stand up pouches are easier to transport. A single truck can carry way more stand up bags than cumbersome glass bottles. They are greener even after they have been used: a stand up bag takes up less space in a landfill than a cardboard box or a plastic or glass bottle. Due to all these reasons, stand up bags are currently the best eco friendly food packaging options available.
