Yes, stand up pouches can be used for organic tea packaging. In fact, many manufacturers are already using stand up pouch bags to package organic tea because they are less expensive than other packaging mediums and do not compromise on the safety of organic tea and customer convenience.
Moisture is an enemy of organic tea. It makes tea rancid, and consequently unfit for consumption. Air is another enemy of organic tea. It does not spoil tea, but it can cause tea to lose its much wanted flavor. Stand up pouches provide ample protection against moisture and oxygen. Stand up bags are made from laminating together several layers of plastic and other materials. Together these layers form an effective barrier against environmental moisture and oxygen; thus prolonging the shelf-life of tea.
At the same time, stand up bags are less expensive than cardboard boxes, plastic and glass jars, and tin cans. Manufacturers can buy about two to four times the stand up pouches than other packaging medium for the same price. In other words, tea makers can essentially double, triple, or quadruple their packaging capacity without adding a cent to their existing budget, or they can reduce their existing packaging budget by at least half.
