Can You Use Stand Up Pouches for Food Products Packaging?

Spouted Stand Up PouchesYes, you can! In fact, many companies have been saving money and enhancing the end user experience by using stand up bags to package food products. The first commercial use of stand up pouches in food and beverage packaging was in the early 1960s, but the trend caught on with the rest of American companies in the mid 1990s. Stand up pouches are now a popular way to package food products. A large number of American companies are choosing stand up pouches for food and liquid packaging instead of more expensive and heavier traditional packaging options.

One allegation that is often raised against these pouches is that they are not safe to package food products. We cannot vouch for other manufacturers, but the stand up pouches that we manufacture have been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). The national organization has tested our packages for food packaging, and declared them safe. Our bags are chemically inert for food products. In simple language, it means that you can rest assured our pouches will not react in any way with the food products inside.

Besides safety, another factor that businesses have to take into account before changing their packaging medium is usability. There are several accessories such as spouts and zip locks that enhance the usability of stand up pouches. Spouted pouches give glass and plastic bottles a tough competition in liquid packaging. They can be, and are being, used to package soft drinks, juices, and other edible liquids.

At StandUpPouches.net, we know it is important to keep the packaging costs low. A typical stand up pouch costs between 15 and 20 cents apiece. This is less than half the cost of the other least expensive packaging medium, the cardboard carton. However, cost is not the only controlling factor. The packaging loses its meaning if it cannot protect food items from environmental and physical hazards that it will have to face during transport, handling, and storage.

Stand up pouches are made from several layers of protective barrier. These layers are laminated together to create a strong barrier that protects food.

Finally, stand up pouches are a great way to package food products because they offer many choices in cover design. You can have virtually any design on the cover. A creative design from you will give your business and product a much-needed advantage over competitors.
