Common Methods to Seal Stand Up Pouches

Pouch bags have to be sealed after filling them up. Stand up pouches can be sealed by using specific machines called heat sealers. There are 2 main types of sealers that can be used for sealing stand up bags: 1. Impulse heat sealers and 2. Direct heat sealers. At StandupPouches.net, we use the heat sealers from Sealer Sales.

Stand Up PouchesImpulse heat sealers are used on materials such as thermoplastics (polypropylene, polyethylene) that do not require high seal temperatures. These sealers work by first warming a part of the pouch and then suddenly subjecting it to intense heat, followed by immediate cooling. Some of the materials that can be sealed by this method include nylon, mylar, and bubble packs.

Direct heat sealing machines maintain a constant temperature at the jaws that allows uniform heat distribution to create a strong seal. These sealers are ideal for sealing thicker packages. They are used to seal different types of materials including poly cello films, coated Kraft papers, and cellophane.

Besides the two main types of automatic sealers mentioned above, there are hand sealers and various other sealing methods available in the market today. However, hand sealers are ineffective for sealing a large number of stand up bags.
