Stand up pouches are one of the most innovative and convenient products when it comes to flexible food packaging. They are commonly preferred over traditional methods of packaging like cases and containers because they take less space, are more cost-effective and provide the same amount of protection to the packed food. Moreover, they have a very appealing appearance that helps in attracting customers and building business.
The manufacturing process of stand up bags is interesting. Every stand up pouch is made up of multiple layers (roughly about five layers). Each layer has its own importance in making a pouch. The outer layer provides strength and durability while the inner layers help maintain the freshness of food and seal the heat. The middle layer is the one that has the print of artwork provided by the client.
The Manufacturing Process – Custom Printing
First, resin beads are heated, extruded, and stretched. Following this, the artwork provided by the client is etched over the printing cylinders according to the given specifications. Any modifications in the artwork are made according to customer’s feedback.
Finally, upon client’s approval, the middle layer is printed. During this course, registration and colors are checked. Then the outer, middle, and inner layers are joined using dry lamination. Additional features like zip locks and notches are added during the final stage of the manufacturing process. Once completed, the inventory is checked, and the finished stand up pouches are sent out to the customer, which are then used for food and beverage packaging.
