If you’re packaging perishable food items in stand up pouch bags, you need to ensure that it stays as fresh as possible, for as long as possible. And when it comes to stand up packaging, you have many choices available to you. The main three are desiccants, gas flush, or oxygen absorbers. So which one should you choose?

For perishable food items, we always recommend that an oxygen absorber be placed into the pouch bags. These will keep your packages looking great on the shelves, will address the need for freshness, and also won’t place any unpleasant toxins, such as gas, onto the product within the bag. The chances are that you’ve seen these oxygen absorbers before. They’re those tiny, firm square packages you see in the bottom of many different products – even within shoe boxes in some cases.
