Many consumers and companies alike are under the mistaken impression only a biodegradable product container can be considered eco packaging. If this were true, very little in the way of product packaging would qualify. For material to be biodegradable, it must be made from certain material and must be exposed to air and, to a lesser extent, water in order to be returned to the soil, so to speak.

There are, however, other forms of eco packaging, much of which are currently widely used, popular with manufacturers, distributors and consumers alike. Stand up pouches are a prime example of what can rightfully be called eco packaging.

Although stand up pouches are made by laminating together multiple layers of scientifically created film, the manufacturing process needs less material than is required for most other packaging bags. The result is also eco friendly because each pouch weighs less and, therefore, requires less fuel per unit to transport. And, because its made with less material, a stand up pouch ultimately generates less waste after disposal. It probably also comes as no surprise that stand up pouches are recyclable. 

Stand up pouch eco packaging will protect your products from moisture, vapor, odor, pests, light and/or air, depending on the nature of the product. In addition, each pouch also extends the shelf life of perishable products and those with an expiry date. For non-liquid products, a zip lock closure is available. Liquid products benefit from the optional pour spout and resealable cap combination to lock in freshness. Both features also prevents spills and leaks.

Stand up pouches are an exceptional choice for packaging products when competitors are plentiful. They stand up on the shelf, of course, so your products can stand apart from those of other brands. Round and sombrero-shaped hang holes are also available. This option provides grocers and retailers a second display choice.
