Did you grow up with the ubiquitous “juice box”?  It’s a tiny tetra pak.  And remember the straw?  You had to angle it just perfectly into the corner of the box, so you could get the last sips of your juice.  What a struggle!  A couple of generations of kids have now had to face that struggle, day after day.  Imagine how many sips of juice are wasted by those who just give up.  When the plastic pouch came along, that problem was erased – and quick.

Not only is it easier to drink from the newer type of container, but modern liquid packaging is way gentler on the environment.  Even where tetra pak recycling exists, it takes a toll on both energy and resources.  It’s not much better than plastic.  But a thin foil bag that can be rolled up and disposed of – that’s sheer genius.

Drink packaging has come a long way, that’s for sure.  All you have to do now is increase suction, and the juice comes up the straw just like dust up a vacuum.  It’s the same concept as a Mr.Freeze.  And with all the brightly colored designs available, kids just love them.  No more bulky box, no more overflowing landfill.  Just convenience and nutrition, all in one.
