Boxes have traditionally been used for dry food packaging. Now a new competitor is emerging that is challenging the dominant position of boxes in dry food, grain and cereal packaging. Named a “side gusset” or a “box style stand up pouch,” this new bag brings all the advantages of a traditional box and it still manages to be less expensive and more environment friendly.
Side gusset has been designed to function as a packaging replacement for cereals, grains, dry foods, and other products. It is smaller than a box of the same capacity. Therefore it occupies less area on a store shelf. The amount of film used in a side gusset is also less. It uses 12 percent less film, which makes the new bag more eco friendly.
The box features five printable areas. These areas can be for advertising, imprinting logos and images, product information and a lot more. One of the most defining features of a gusset bag is its zip lock. This is a very handy feature which is virtually non-existent in a traditional box.
To conclude, the new standup bag mimics a box, behaves like a box, but does not have the disadvantages of a box. It is more environment friendly, less expensive, offers more printable area, takes up less space on a store shelf, and comes with a zip lock.
