How are Croutons Packaged?

Croutons are a popular snack food. They are mostly used in salads and soups to add flavor to them. They are essentially pieces of bread that are baked after being coated in oil or butter. Some people fry them lightly which gives them extra flavor. While croutons can be of any shape, cube shaped croutons are the most common. Bread cubes is another name for these crunchy pieces of delight.

The packaging of croutons is mostly done by machines which require little human guidance. These automated machines are fed with an empty pile of stand up bags or other packaging material, and croutons. The machine works on one bag at a time. Its mechanical arms open packages and place them on a conveyor belt. Meanwhile croutons are measured for weight in another part of the machine and divided into small piles. These small piles of croutons are then shoved into empty food pouches. A heating machine at the end of the conveyor belt heat-seals the pouches.

These barrier bags are then placed into cardboard boxes by human workers or another set of automated machines. A pile of cardboard boxes is made which is then shipped in a truck or other transport medium to markets.
