Our stand up packaging can weigh so little but still be strong enough to hold just about every type of product because we use a carefully designed laminating process. Laminated materials are used because without them, the packaging would lack barrier films that keep the product fresh, safe, and ready to eat. The first film to go onto the bag is the outer layer. This is stronger and tougher than the other layers that go into our pouch bags because the outer layer has to stand up to storage conditions and handling while waiting for sale on a supermarket shelf.
This tough, outer layer is laminated to a much more thin, inner layer of film that is printed with custom graphics. This is the only part of the bag that is printed and only water soluble, FDA approved materials are used. Those outer layers protect the printed layer but also have another very important effect. They create barrier properties that keep the product fresh and safe from pests, odors, and other factors that could affect it. The outer layers also give the bag strength and help it stand on the shelves of supermarkets. Other films are then laminated onto the outer and inner layers including the innermost film. This inside layer of film is the only layer that touches the product and it is made of FDA approved food-grade materials.
