Stand Up Pouches for Product Packaging

Product Packaging Like Standup Pouches

Product packaging. Sounds simple, doesn't it? Packaging products seems like a very straightforward concept for producers, manufacturers and distributors alike and, in some ways, it is. The primary function of product packaging is, of course, to safely, securely and effectively convey the contents to market and, subsequently, your customer's home. There are, however, other functions to consider when determining the packaging best suited to your brand's product line.

Stand up pouches are an increasingly popular form of product packaging. Also known as custom print bags, Mylar® pouches and stand up bags, the pouches are made of multiple layers of scientifically formulated film that are laminated together. The resulting barrier bag protects contents against some or all of the following, as needed:

  • Vapor
  • Odor
  • Moisture
  • Light
  • Air
  • Pests
  • Pets(!)

For those products with an expiry date (e.g., food, potpourri, spices and vitamins), available zip seal closures lock in freshness, flavor and/or chemical or nutritional potency, as the case may be. For liquid products, available pour spouts and resealable caps will serve the same preservation function and also prevent spills from occurring.

To perform to the customer's satisfaction, packaging should be convenient to use. Stand up pouches, by virtue of actually standing up, store conveniently, saving space in the garage, closet, kitchen or refrigerator/freezer. Optional tear notches make dry good/non-liquid products easy to open.

Stand up pouches offer a number of options to help you brand your brand as well. Remember, the primary (sole?) purpose of branding is to create, in the mind of the consumer, so strong a connection between your brand and the product that he or she doesn't think of one independent of the other. Stand up pouches stand up on the shelf, permitting your brand to stand apart from the competition. Unless the product is too heavy, optional round and sombrero-style hang holes provide retailers a second store display option. The pouch design yields wide front and back panels that accommodate your company labels, custom printing in up to 10 colors, the use of clear film or a combination of any or all of these.

Stand up pouches: Perhaps the most effective product packaging solution.
