There’s a special kind of equipment called a heat sealer which is used to seal stand up pouches. There are various kinds of heat sealers that are used by different manufacturers. At StandupPouches.net, we use Sealer Sales heat sealers.
In the manufacturing process of stand up bags, the final step is generally heat sealing. The sealing of standup pouches is done after they are filled up with the product. There are two types of sealers that are mainly used by manufacturers - impulse heat sealers and direct heat sealers.
Impulse heat sealers are used when there is a need to seal thermoplastics (like polypropylene and polyethylene) that do not have very high seal temperatures. These sealers first warm a part of the pouch and then suddenly subject it to a strong heat ray. After that, the pouch is immediately cooled. Other materials that are sealed using impulse heat sealers include Mylar, Nylon, and bubble packs.
In the direct heat sealing process, there are two jaws that act as sealers. They are maintained at a constant temperature. As long as the machine stays on, the sealing process continues. This kind of sealing is ideal for sealing packages of thicker materials. Pouches made from coated Kraft papers, cellophane, poly cello films, coated PP, and some other materials are sealed using direct heat sealers.
There are many other types of sealers, like hand sealers, but they are good only if you want to seal 10-20 pouches.
