A stand up pouch comes from a process in which multiple layers of special film are laminated together to form a barrier bag that is strong and puncture-resistant, yet still flexible. Stand up pouches guard against vapor, odor, moisture, light, air and pests (pets too!). For products that have an expiry date, stand up pouches seal in freshness. Optional zip lock closures for dry products and available pour spouts with resealable caps for liquids not only help extend product shelf life but prevent spillage as well. Gas release valves can also be ordered.
A stand up pouch, also known as custom stand bags, Mylar® pouches and stand up bags, offer excellent convenience. We've already mentioned the zip lock closures. Tear notches that make the bags easy to open are available. Finally, because each stand up pouch does indeed stand up on the shelf, it stores conveniently, saving space in the process in the garage, closet, kitchen or refrigerator.
Stand up pouches are very effective marketing tools for your products as well. Remember, they stand up on the shelf so your brand stands out from the competition. Wide front and back pouch panels accommodate your labels, customized printing in up to 10 colors, or both. You can even incorporate the use of clear film for those products that are especially appealing to the eye.
Although made using multiple layers of film, stand up pouch packaging actually requires less material than do most other plastic and foil packaging bags (up to 12 percent less). Not only does this ultimately generate less waste after disposal, but because the bags are made using less material, they weigh less and, therefore, require less fuel per unit to transport. And, for good measure, most pouches are recyclable.
