Stand Up Pouches for Product Packaging

The Importance of Using Barrier Films with Pouch Bags

Stand up pouch bags are quickly becoming a popular means of packaging. This should be no surprise given the lower costs and other benefits that come from using stand up bags. However, we have seen some bags that might look like typical stand up packaging, but do a poor job of protecting the product. These are the bags that do stand up on their own but don't make any use of barrier film. They are probably used by companies that enjoy the very low cost but don't understand the high importance of barrier film.

Without barrier film on a stand up bag, products are susceptible to a wide variety of problems. Moisture can easily penetrate the bag and thus ruin bread or other products that need to be kept away from any type of vapor. Odors will likewise come into the packaging and thus change the flavor or ruin the product on the inside.

Barrier films also make it possible to package almost any product at much lower cost than other types of packaging. This is especially the case for products sometimes packed with one or two resealable bags on the inside of a printed carton. Our creative food packaging eliminates the need for that carton and extra bag because custom printing is incorporated into the barrier film.
