Standup pouches are now known as the new age packing flexible food packaging, as there are different standup pouches for different types of products, like baby food pouch storage and foil pouches etc. They are innovative and help in saving costs of production, shelf space, and wastage. But how are these pouches made? Here are the steps:
- A standup pouch consists of multiple barrier films- inner, middle, and outer. The outer layer is for strength and durability, whereas the inner layer is the food grade film that is heat sealable. The middle layer is where the print comes on.
- The artwork is decided by the product manufacturer, and depending on their requirements, the images printing cylinders are made.
- A sample of barrier film is made, which is shown to the client for approval.
- Once the client approved the film, a final printed version of the middle layer is made. The films are then identified and their prints are closely checked for errors or faults.
- All the layers are fixed at their position using dry lamination.
- Pouch making process begins. Features like zips, holes, or spouts are added according to the client specifications.
And once these pouches are made, they are finally transported to the client.
