Three Things You Should Tell Us to Get the Best Standup Bags

Spouted PackagingSo you have decided to move ahead and use stand up bags to package your products. Congratulations! You have taken a wise decision. Stand up pouches are an inexpensive and environment friendly method for packaging foods and liquids. They can be used for non-food packaging too. Even though stand up bags are a relatively late comer in the packaging world, they have becomes ubiquitous in the span of past two decades. More companies are opting for stand up pouches than ever. They offer several advantages over other packaging methods. In case you are going to use stand up pouches for the first time for your product, here is a short guide which will take you through the three things you need to tell a manufacturer before placing an order for a batch of stand up bags:

(1) Product details

This is an old saying- know thy product. It may seem ridiculous because no one knows your product better than you; but you might need to do some homework. When we say know your product, we mean you should be able to define your packaging requirements clearly. Tell us if your product is a solid or a liquid. This is important as it will make it easier for us to suggest more relevant and flexible packaging options. Does your product melt in the heat (like chocolate), or needs an extra process (like nitrogen flushing).

(2) Quantity matters

It is important to let us know what quantity of product you are going to package in your pouch. It is the quantity and weight of your product that ultimately decide the thickness of the pouch. A miscalculation here and you will either end up paying extra for a super-solid pouch that you do not need, or you will have a flimsy pouch that cannot even bear the weight of the contents.

(3) Other requirements

Is your product consumed fast? Or is it something that spends a good deal of time on the shelf once it is opened? It is a good idea to share this information with us. There are several designs for a stand up pouch. Less expensive pouches offer a shelf-life of only one month, while more expensive bags protect your product for several months. It is important to pay for only what you need. Besides shelf life, it is important to let us know if your product needs protection from ultraviolet light, and if it will have to be transported in summer with air conditioning. This information will help us design the right kind of pouch for your product.

Apart from these three things, if there are any specifics about your product that can guide us better, please make sure to share them with us.
