Try Bottom Gusseted Stand Up Bags

Stand up pouch bags are a flexible and creative packaging option. First used in the early 1960s for juice packaging, these flexible pouches have taken the world of packaging by storm during the last decade. Stand up pouches are different than simple poly bags in many ways. The most obvious of them is the ability of these bags to stand up without an external support. The bags use gussets to stand erect. There are four kinds of bottom gussets:

(a) Round bottom gusset
(b) K-style gusset
(c) Plow bottom gusset
(d) Flat bottom gusset

The choice of the gusset in a packaging depends on several factors. These factors include the weight of the packaging and the end goals of the seller.

Round bottom gusset

The gusset looks like a smiling face on a flattened-down, empty pouch. When filled, this gusset morphs into a circular base. This is the most popular gusset-type for products weighting less than a pound. If your product is fluffy, this smiling face round bottom gusset is for you.

K-style gusset

The smile of round bottom gusset takes a K-shape in this gusset type. The cuts are near the sides and the middle bottom is left unscathed. This shape allows more of a product to go toward the bottom. This bottom-heavy gusset style is a great option to package products weighing more than one pound. If you are into rice, cereals, flour, or other slightly heavy products, you will find the K-style gusset bag perfect for your requirements.

Plow bottom gusset

This is the workhorse of the gusseted pouch bags. It can carry more weight than all other gussets. Unlike others, it is not sealed to the pouch. It is built along with the pouch without a seal. The design of the gusset is such that most of the product’s weight falls on it. Consequently the walls of the packaging are saved from the stress. This gusset-type is mostly used to package sugars, salts, and other heavy granular products.

Flat bottom gusset

This is the newest type of gusset. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it has been designed to mimic a box. Therefore the products that require expensive boxes can be easily packaged into economical flat bottom gusset pouches. A flat bottom gusset bag is an excellent replacement for manufacturers planning to overhaul their packaging by reducing expenses without compromising on consumer satisfaction.
