A pouch heat sealer is a machine used to seal plastic materials. It uses heat to stick two plastic surfaces together. There are many types of heat sealers used in the packaging industry. Based on their functioning, they can be categorized into two broad types - (1) impulse heat sealers, and (2) direct heat sealers.
(1) Impulse heat sealers
Hand sealers, pedestal type or foot sealers, auto sealers, and double impulse sealers are impulse heat category sealers. They seal a stand up pouch or other plastic materials by applying a pulse of energy to the area which has to be sealed. The sealing area is cooled immediately after heating. These sealers can seal materials ranging up to 20mil in thickness. They are used to seal nylon, saran, Mylar, and other thermoplastic materials.
(2) Direct heat sealers
Vacuum sealers and clam shell sealers are two main types of direct heat sealers. These sealers maintain a constant temperature in both jaws. They have a deeper penetration than impulse heat sealers, so they can seal very thick materials that include gusset bags, Kraft papers, poly cello films, and coated PP. They are commonly used to seal barrier pouch bags.
We have different types of heat sealer machines and use the right one depending upon your packaging requirements.
