It took a lot of hard work and dedication. How do you get your brand to this level? This is the true story of how Michele Miller had an inspiring vision, created an awesome product, allowed our packaging experts to help build her brand, and experienced resulting success.
When we think of the name Michele Miller, 3 words come to mind: Integrity, Genuine, and Real. The adventures of Michele began at an early age. Michele grew up in the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts where she has fond memories of her Parisian mother’s culinary adventures in the kitchen. In her family, food was something to be celebrated and enjoyed with great pleasure.
Michele’s career in the restaurant business took off when she opened Suchele Bakers bakery in 1975. After she had her fill of artisanal breads, European pastries, and pies, she began her next business endeavor: Boiler Room Café. She was the chef and owner for 10 years. Nothing short of extraordinary, Michele eventually decided to try her hand at granola. Boy are we glad she did. As founder of BOLA Granola, Michele’s passion for food is palpable.

In other words… YUM! It doesn’t get much better than this in the world of granola.
So when did Stand Up Pouches come into the equation? Michele started using our stock pouches back in early 2009 for her original granola. As her business grew, she transitioned to a printed pouch in late 2010. The original flavor pouches are modeled on our stock pouches of 6 x 9.5 x 3.25, they have a clear front and metalized film back with glossy print on the front and back and a matte background on the back of the pouch. When the first set of pouches arrived, the shade of orange Michele had envisioned was not quite what she had in mind. No problem. We kept tweaking the color for her through the next production run and finally got it to what she wanted. We now have what we call ‘BOLA’ orange as the official shade of orange on her pouches. At Stand Up Pouches, this is what we do. Our goal is your goal. We do not stop until your vision is created perfectly, down to the last detail.
Since then, Michele has added a Gluten Free and Barely Sweet version to her repertoire. The new pouches have a zipper and tear notches, the material is food safe, and an all clear material structure is used on the front of the bag. The back of the bag has a matte finish in the black background area and a glossy finish in the area with color/text. The back and bottom gusset of the pouches are a metalized material structure. To say the least, the new flavors look and taste amazing!
Michele and BOLA Granola will be a major player in the granola industry for a long time to come. Not only has she created a loyal following throughout the Eastern seaboard and as far south as Florida, she has moved into a new production facility and created jobs for many people.
