We are asked this question often and it's a great question.  We have our US factory and 2 overseas plants for our printed standuppouches.  Our US factory can custom print basic colors but when a client needs something with high end, bold, photographic quality we use one of our overseas plants for a few reasons.  One, we have the ability to print using Rotogravure printing at our overseas plant, this is the finest quality printing with the highest resolution.  Two, we can get them done faster, our lead times are 4-6 weeks after artwork is approved.  Three, we have a much bigger selection of film combinations to choose from.  Every product is different, every product needs protected in different ways, and the right film combination is key.  Some clients need their product protected from moisture, vapor, odor, while others need it protected from sunlight and puncture, while another needs it protected from all of these.  Overseas we develop our own film combinations and then extrude our own film, which is very important and helps minimize our lead times.  

At our US factory we have stock film already laminated and ready for converting.  This works great for unprinted standuppouches as we have stock clear films and foil and even metalized structures to choose from.  However, at our US factory, our printing capability is pretty basic and it is surface printed, meaning we will print on top of the film and then will convert into pouches.  Conversely, our overseas factory will "trap" printing meaning it is one of the layers of the pouch itself and cannot be scratched or marred in any way.

NOTE: Our overseas plants are our plants with our staff, meaning if someone wants to watch their product being run, we can take pictures or even live video.  If someone wants to visit, they are more than welcome.  Even further, our staff's sole responsibility is to watch our client's quality and check and double check that they are run efficiently and on time.  We only use water based inks and never use chemicals that could harm the contents inside the standuppouches, whatever they may be.
